Active Play

As per Child Care Licensing Regulations, we ensures that all our programs create daily
opportunities for active play and the development of fundamental movement skills (for
example, crawling, balancing, running, jumping) indoors and outdoors. On a daily basis, full
time child care programs must ensure a minimum of 60 minutes of outdoor active play per
day, weather permitting. If children cannot go outside due to extreme weather conditions, we
will set up indoor activities for active play. Mini Miracles Children Centre will take daily trips to Blue Mountain Park for children’s active outdoor play.

We will utilize different park areas depending on daily circumstances.

For example, during the summer, we can use the spray park.

If the playground is too busy with other children, we can walk around the trail until it becomes less crowded.

If the staff determines that the available playground space is age inappropriate, staff will provide activities for active play on the grass area at the park, as long as it does not interrupt others who are playing at the public park. These activities may include:

  • Parachute games

  • Freeze tag, hide and seek

  • Dancing, jumping, running, etc.

  • Balls (catch ball, football, basketball)
